The first five French appellations contrôlées (protected and controlled regions of origin) for wine were introduced on 15 May 1936: Cassis, Châteauneuf-du- Pape, Monbazillac and Tavel. As the only Provençal appellation in this elite group, the AOC Cassis therefore celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2016. But the Cassis vineyards are much older than that. et Tavel.
