“Land of the beginnings” Olivier Legay, wood sculptor G

“I like to be guided by the movement of the veins in wood and to draw my inspiration from the universe of woodland spirits. Here, in this land of the beginnings of mankind, where the collective memory goes back thousands of years I feel that the forests of the rural Perigord region guard the legends of a place of harmony… Saint-Léon echoes this with great authenticity. I’m in my element here in this valley of Mankind, with so much beauty and poetry. For the past 30 years, my artistic progression is tightly linked to this timeless village and the tranquil river that passes through it.”

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

Saint-Léon is an ideal starting point for outdoor sporting activities F  . Starting with canoeing and kayak trips: the Vézère River is still wild and offers sites and scenery along its course, that can only be accessed by the river. Alternatively there are difficult and less difficult, mountain bike trails, over the 350 odd miles of the Lascaux-Valley Vézère mountain bike circuit. Walking trails will take you to the Côte de Jor where there’s a superb view of the valley. Paragliders dive off the cliff here and play with the updraught! Sport in a Natural Setting
